Gold Flakes

I felt that when I work streams in North Georgia for the gold, I can earn about $ 0.50 an hour at the current price of gold. I fully understand how difficult it was for prospectors to earn a living looking for gold. However, there is something exciting to find this bright spot of metal in the soil. Gold North Georgia has a deep golden color and is most True you can find. The emotion of that gold in the bottom of a pan of black sand can be addictive. Do not expect become rich in search of gold, but you can easily get a little color to your collection at home and perhaps even a nugget or boast two.
You may have heard the story of man in Africa who went in search of diamonds only to return home after several years to find a large diamond in his own backyard. My wife always told to check the creek behind the house for gold, but I kept panning for gold over fields north and even tried to find one in the West. My best success has been buying dirt from a mine in Dahlonega, which resulted in pay on what gold was worth after panning it out.
Most of the gold in Georgia is the along a line from Clayton in the north of Buchanan near the Alabama line. Along this line Dahlonega, Canton, Allatoona, and Acworth. The belt Gold is not well defined and distributed in places. We live just north of Marietta along a ridge which separates the waters of the Chattahoochee and Etowah rivers. I like to think that our continental divide shortly. Behind our house we have a creek that flows into the Etowah. The rock formations here are turned on edge and about halfway along the back of our lot is a vein of quartz is cut by the River.
I started to look for gold on the corner of the parcel at the downstream end and provided for the work of my height watercourse and clean all the gold I could find. On one of our trips to Colorado for a Convention on caving, my friend and I went a week Early in the pan and bought a small dredge 2 inches. I established the drag in the creek and worked on the sand all the way up the rock bed. The gold was very rough and beautiful. Big nothing just gatherers and small flakes. I did not fill a small gold medallion for a neckless my wife and carries a small quantity of a display case.
I have not worked the creek to the vein quartz where I suspect gold is coming. It has not budged much in the water or on the edges are more rounded. I guess I'm saving the rest the creek for the future.
We used to have parties where gold mining family or friends outside of town would visit. They could believe they could find real gold right here in our own backyard.
Subdivisions have taken over some of the old mines in the region. Sixes mine in southern Cherokee County produced $ 200,000 of gold in 1849 and is now part of Lake Altoona and in a major subdivision. The mine near Acworth Hadaway is also suspected of having produced a significant amount. Samples of ore from the property Kemp showed 2.50 $ $ 7.50 gold per ton of ore.
I can never get rich pan for gold, but it is nice to know you can find gold in your own backyard. So when I'm bored again I drag the dredge and dredge the sand for several hours, adding a little more gold dust in my collection.
